‘Zombieland’ TV Show Being Pitched, Movie Sequel in Doubt
People seem to like zombies on TV. The record-breaking numbers from the season two premier of ‘The Walking Dead’ prove there’s a lot of money to be had there. Since the supposed sequel to ‘Zombieland’ has had trouble getting off the ground, Fox and Sony would like to make it a scripted television show instead.
According to Screenrant, reports are in that Fox Broadcasting is collaborating with Sony Pictures Television on a Zombieland TV show, which would be a half-hour action-comedy series in the vein of the 2009 film. What makes it all the more fitting is that the original screenwriting duo Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick are also “onboard” to design the program.
I’m all for more zombies on television and I think this could co-exist with ‘The Walking Dead’. The only problem is the cast. Most of what made ‘Zombieland’ memorable was the excellent casting job. Killing zombies in a funny manner has been done countless times before, but something was special about the cast in ‘Zombieland’. Whether or not this actually gets made, the idea for a feature-length sequel is looking really rotten.
