Theater Releases – 6/10

X-Men: First Class opened last week to first place at the box office. While probably being the best reviewed film in the franchise, it was also one of the least successful. No word yet as to whether Fox is happy with the return from the their potential summer blockbuster, but hopefully they will bring this team of mutants back from another film. This week is the opening of the eagerly anticipated collaboration between Steven Spielberg and J.J. Abrams, Super 8.

Synopsis: After witnessing a mysterious train crash, a group of friends in the summer of 1979 begin noticing strange happenings going around in their small town, and begin to investigate into the creepy phenomenon.

Buzz: Anticipation is strong for this to be the next E.T. or Close Encounters of the Third Kind. While it doesn’t quite reach those heights (my review) it is a great science-fiction film worthy of your summer dollar
