Studio Ghibli Announces New Projects for Miyazaki and Takahata

If you didn’t see my recent top 10, Studio Ghibli films, then your missing out. An announcement might add two more films to that list.

Studio Ghibli, behind such classics such as My Neighbor Totoro and Spirited Away, announced that the studio co-founders Hayao Miyazaki and Isao Takahata will be working on two new films to add to Studio Ghibli’s illustrious catalog.

According to Anime News Network and Twitch, Takahata said he is working on a new film, but unfortunately it’s two years from completion. Meanwhile, Hayao Miyazaki will be working on an ‘autobiography’ project, that some assume won’t be his own autobiography.

Anyway you spin it, it’s exciting news to hear that the two masters of the company will be creating new works. Studio Ghibli’s recent theatrical release, Arrietty, will be making its way stateside 17 February 2012.
