‘Rango’ Reviews are Unusually Positive. Look Out Pixar.

‘Rango’ reviews are unusually positive. The story of ‘Rango’ follows a chameleon who ends up in the Wild West in a town desperate for a sheriff. From the early clips I saw of this film, it didn’t inspire too much hope for how it would come out. I suppose the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ team of Gore Verbinski and Johnny Depp had other plans in mind. Let’s take a look at some of the early reviews of ‘Rango’.
From Variety,
Johnny Depp isn’t the sort of star to blend in, so it’s saying something that his turn as the world’s most conspicuous chameleon in Rango is so full-bodied, you forget the actor and focus on the character.
Slant Magazine,
Haunted by the ghosts of Leone, Peckinpah, and Dali, Gore Verbinski’s wild animated romp Rango turns an assembly line of classic western themes and iconography into a bustlingly fresh genre ecosystem.
and Hollywood Reporter,
Madly clever animated sagebrush saga has style and wit to burn.
With such positive reviews the film looks poised to rule the weekend. Pixar, with ‘Cars 2′ coming out this year, may be in jeopardy of losing that Best Animated Feature Oscar. ‘Rango’ opens everywhere on March 4th.
