Paul Thomas Anderson’s next film will not be Inherent Vice, but it will be (tentatively) The Master. The Weinstein Company has acquired world rights to the picture before shooting begins this June.   The film will star Joaquin Phoenix and Philip Seymour Hoffman and will Anderson’s first film since There Will Be Blood.

Deadline broke the story and provides the synopsis featured below:

Hoffman stars as a man who returns after witnessing the horrors of WWII and tries to rediscover who he is in post-war America. He creates a belief system, something that catches on with other lost souls.

Being a huge fan of P.T. Anderson after Punch Drunk Love and There Will Be Blood, I’m really excited to see another film from him.
