Kristen Stewart Offered Female Lead in ‘Akira’ Adaptation

Posted November 15, 2011 by Max in Film News

If the idea of a live-action ‘Akira‘ film wasn’t going over well with fans, I’m sure this bit of casting information won’t calm the fire. According to TwitchKristen Stewart has been offered the part of Kei, a young medium who becomes the love interest for Kaneda (Garrett Hedlund was offered that role).

Stewart also co-starred with Garrett Hedlund on the film adaptation of ‘On the Road‘. While this and ‘Snow White and the Huntsman‘ are great roles to get her away as being typecast as Bella Swan (Twilight), I don’t think she has the range for anything other than her dull portrayal of a girl in love with a vampire.

Something tells me this news isn’t going to go over well with fans of ‘Akira‘.
