Jennifer Lawrence Captures Lead Role in ‘The Hunger Games’
According to The Wrap, Jennifer Lawrence has landed the lead role in Lionsgate’s adaptation of ‘The Hunger Games’. Jennifer Lawrence will play young Katniss Everdeen who is selected to partake in a contest of survival.
The Actress, scarcely know a year ago, rose to fame with her incredible lead role in ‘Winter’s Bone’. The film got national attention when it was named for multiple Academy Awards including Best Picture.
‘The Hunger Games’ is a best selling young adult francise written by Suzanne Collins featuring the books, ‘The Hunger Games’, ‘Catching Fire’, and ‘Mockingjay’.
Many over actresses coveted the role of Katniss, including academy nominees Hailee Steinfeld (True Grit) and Abigale Breslin (Little Miss Sunshine).
The casting of Lawrence proves that Lionsgate wants to make the cast in general a little bit older than portrayed in the novels. Katniss is always a teenager in the series and Lawrence does not portray that age. Expect the casting of the love interest characters to be in a similar direction.
