Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 Smashed Box Office Records

Posted July 18, 2011 by Max in Featured

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 is the cumulation of ten years and eight films. Expectations were high for the Box Office potential on this one. Well all expectations were shattered this weekend as Harry Potter broke numerous records.

According to BoxOfficeMojo.com, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 had the highest-grossing opening weekend ever. The series finale drew an estimated $168.55 million on around 11,000 screens at 4,375 locations, dethroning The Dark Knight‘s $158.4 million.

The opening day for Harry Potter was also enormous. Staring with an epic record-breaking $43.5 million midnight haul, Potter went on to have an opening day record of $92.1 million. Most films would be lucky to have that total in 5 days never-mind the first day. It would seem WB made the right move in splitting the last book into two movies.

Look for the review of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 later today.
