Your Ticket Inside the Movies

What Film do you Dream about being a part of? Chocolate Edition

If you had the ability to visit any one film’s world, what world would you visit?

First a special thanks to Dan at Top 10 Films for developing this blog-a-thon. Make sure you hit the ticket to see what other bloggers came up with.

When thinking about the question, I came to my only possible solution. I would the opportunity to visit Willy Wonka‘s Chocolate Factory as seen in the original Gene Wilder film.

As a child, I was simply in love with the movie. The characters all had their flaws, even the lead Charlie misbehaved in some fashion, but the utterly scary Oompa Loompas could never keep me away from the magical chocolate factory.

Think of it this way, there were countless amounts of sweets to eat and new inventions of all shapes and sizes. Wonka wasn’t just concerned about making candy,  this man was inventing countless new creations including shrink rays, flying elevators, and wallpaper that tasted like fruit (I guess germs weren’t a concern back then).

When you did something wrong, you didn’t get a timeout or beaten (not that I was beaten as a child, I swear), you had a musical number sang to you telling you what you did wrong; ah, if only life were that easy. While the little men might be a little creepy, they could certainly carry a tune. Not only that, but each song had educational value. How about that?

One could consider Willy Wonka to be the equivalent of a president in the world created by Roald Dahl. An all-knowing, overpowering dictator; he means well, but his genius walks that fine line of insanity but when you touch his heart, he is able to show you the world.

Imagine what it would be like to swim in a chocolate lake, to never be poor since your goose could lay a golden egg. If I had a opportunity to visit a movie land, Willy Wonka’s magical chocolate factory would be the first on my list.
