‘Arrested Development’ Movie and TV Episodes, Coming Soon

Posted October 3, 2011 by Max in Film News

The on-again, off-again saga of the fabled ‘Arrested Development’ movie has just been tilted to on-again. During an ‘Arrested Development’ cast reunion, Mitchell Hurwitz said the movie is still in the works and something else might be as well. According to the New York Times, the movie is coming along, but they would also like to do some new TV episodes that lead into the
movie.

Hurwitz says the time away from the Bluth family is the launching point for the nine or ten new episodes planned. Due to new commitments from the cast, he would like to feature a character an episode to discover what has happened in their lives during the hiatus. All of this seems too good to be true; however, there are three other sources of evidence that this might happen:

Via Jason Bateman’s Twitter @batemanjason:

It’s true. We will do 10 episodes and the movie. Probably shoot them all together next summer
for a release in early ’13. VERY excited!

Via Will Arnett’s Twitter @arnettwill:

I’m peeing with @batemanjason at the moment..and we can confirm that we are going to make
new AD eps and a movie

and finally:

Via FilmSchoolRejects. In addition to this, Deadline was able to obtain information that
Showtime and Netflix were in talks with 20th Century Fox Television (who owns the property)
to broadcast the mini-series which is supposedly set for an early 2013 air date.

I’m really excited that this ‘might’ happen, but until deals are signed this is still just a
very pleasant dream.
